Other Community Service Activities:
I work with the Super Kids (group of mentally challenged adults) on the south side of VA, and raised money to buy a 25 seater bus for their transportation needs. We are in the process of building a home for the Super Kids. This is my greatest and proudest accomplishment!
I am involved with Pro-Am Teams' Piers For Handicapped Fishermen Program - Four Piers already built.
I work with Hopewell, VA's Optimist Club - Kids Fishing Tournament (14th year).
Host of the Annual Burrowsville/NASCAR Fishing Tournament (14th year - September 2005).
Grand Marshall - Christmas Parade in Richmond, VA. and for the Harvest Festival in South Hill, VA.
How I Help Promote Your Product:
This year, I will be on 15 to 20 television shows and that isn’t counting reruns. I promote my sponsors’ products, in my fishing articles, which are in newspapers, magazines, videos, DVD’s, cassettes, radio and television commercials throughout the country. I write monthly columns for six different magazines throughout the United States. I teach bass fishing courses for the BassMaster’s University throughout the country and also promote my sponsors' products. I average 60 to 70 personal appearances annually at trade and sports shows, and in-store promotions nationwide. I wear my sponsors’ logo, either a patch or a hat and use their product exclusively. I enjoy meeting people at the trade and sports shows, and store promotions where I have the opportunity to introduce them to the features of my sponsors' products. Personalized product demonstration and explanation is extremely important. Because I am sincere and have credibility, people listen to what I have to say.
I have six Bass Fishing videos and DVDs in the Bass Pro Shop.
Feelings on Tournament Fishing:
Tournament fishing creates a great competitive atmosphere, which requires you to use your physical and mental skills to the fullest. It also allows you to develop friends nationwide. Throughout the years of tournament fishing, I've personally had the opportunity to meet a tremendous amount of people and I have learned many fishing techniques on different lures and different structures.
